About

Hi, welcome to my golf blog. I am Wayne Hudler, an ordinary golfer learning to play better golf. Currently I hold about a 15 handicap index.  That has not always been the case.

I remember all too well how poorly I played for years, including some early rounds that were way over 100. I remember seeking advice from my friends on how to improve my golf swing. Now I know that most of that advice, however well intentioned, was dead wrong.

That mis-guided advice set my golf game back for years. Who knew? I could have hit straighter drives, fixed my slice and better understood my swing so much sooner if it had not been for those years of bad swing advice.

Finally, I decided I needed to get some real help for my golf swing. I was fed up with always hitting the big banana ball from the tee. Couldn’t stand any longer scoring over 100, wishing I could just make par once in awhile.

After a long search, fortunately, I found an excellent source of golf swing education. Reading that material helped me to better understand the golf swing, guided me to correct my swing faults and as a result slowly my golf game improved.

Breaking 100 was a great day for me. Regularly shooting in the 90′s made me feel so much better about myself and my golf swing. As I continued to work through the information, I set a goal of breaking 90. When that happened I had reason to celebrate. Now I break 90 on a semi-regular basis.

I am so thankful that I am now on a course that has improved my golf game. But it occurs to me that you may be the victim of bad golf like I was. Sadly, it is more common than most of us realize. I hate that for you because I know how frustrating it can be to play below your own expectations and not understand how to fix the swing flaws. Doing things you’ve been told will work by some friend and they don’t work. You can’t keep that up.

Like so many of you, I want to get down to a single digit handicap. That is my goal. To do that I will need to break 80, not always, but on a regular basis. My best round of 2009 was 82. My average was about 87. Hence the 15 handicap.

So here we both are, I want to improve my golf game. So do you. I want to improve my game from tee to green, driving, approach shots, short game and putting. So do you. I want to lower my handicap. So do you.

This site is intended to share with you my journey from where my game is now (January 2010) to a single digit handicap.

And along the way I will share everything, the good and the bad, I learn with you. It is likely that if something helps me that it will also help you. Maybe not in every case, each of us have our own version of the golf swing, but in most the same lessons I learn will be of similar benefit to you.

While I will be doing the most of the talking I do hope that you will leave your feedback, thoughts and impressions in the comments section of each post. Let’s share our knowledge one with another.
